What is a sub-account, and how is it created?

What is a sub-account?

A sub-account is used to create wishlists on behalf of others – for example your child, your partner, or a family member.

Sub-accounts are especially relevant if the person does not have their own profile – often due to the age limit of 15 years.

A sub-account does not function as an independent profile and therefore cannot add friends or be managed separately.

👉 That’s why we have introduced a new feature – Kids Profiles, which we recommend for children, as they are designed to provide a safer and more child-friendly experience.

Ønskeskyen’s recommendation: Use Kids Profiles for children

If you are creating wishlists for children, we recommend using Kids Profiles instead of sub-accounts.

With Kids Profiles, you get:

  • A safe and secure space for the child

  • Better overview of the child’s wishes

  • Features tailored specifically for children

Sub-accounts still work and can be used during a transition period – or for purposes other than children.

How do I create a sub-account?

You can create a sub-account for your profile in two ways.

1. Creating via a wish list

  • Create a wish list as if it were your own.

  • Select "On behalf of your loved ones."

  • Name the wish list as needed.

  • Click on "Add sub-account."

  • Click on "Create sub-account" and enter the name, date of birth, and gender.

  • Click "Create sub-account."

The sub-account is now created, and you will be returned to the wish list, where under "Other people" you can select the sub-account and start adding wishes.

2. Creating via your account settings

  • Click on your profile picture in the top right corner and select "Account."

  • Scroll almost to the bottom, where you’ll see "Other people."

  • Click on "Create sub-account."

  • Enter the name, date of birth, and gender, then click "Create sub-account."

Once the sub-account is created, it will be visible under "Other people" in your account settings. Here, you can also edit and delete sub-accounts.
